The first step that doctors do to diagnose this disease is to know the complete medical history and visual examination of the skin. After that, patch test is conducted in order to identify the cause. Patch testing involves applying suspected allergens on the back of the patient. Sometimes the skin is infected so, scrapping off a bit of the affected skin is done to that it can be examined under the microscope to see if there is a fungal infection or other condition exists.
